Austrian citizens living in Vienna can apply for a passport at any Pass-Service location in the city. You must apply in person for identity verification and fingerprinting. Processing times range from next working day (express) to 5 working days (standard).

How it works — step by step

  1. Visit any Pass-Service location during opening hours (no appointment needed Monday–Friday, 8:00–11:30, or book an appointment for 12:00–15:30, or Thursday until 17:30)
  2. Bring your current or expired passport, ID card, or other official photo ID (see requirements based on your situation)
  3. Staff will verify your identity, take your fingerprints, and collect your signature
  4. Pay the application fee in cash or card (Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, JCB, American Express; some districts accept card only)
  5. Provide an address in Austria where your new passport should be delivered by post
  6. Collect your passport by post within the stated processing time (standard: ~5 working days, express: 2–3 days, one-day courier: next business day)
